The Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) implemented by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority as a test to discourage the illegal import, sale, distribution and use of mobile sets and to further organize, tracking/blocking stolen and lost mobile sets is related to the business that will be fully implemented from Paush 15, 2079.
According to the Customs Act, 2064, the mobile sets brought by Nepalis from abroad (not registered in the MDMS system or not in use in Nepal before 2079 Bhadra) should be declared to the customs and updated in the system by taking a notification letter from the customs office.
According to the rules, mobile phone sets that have not been declared in the customs will not be registered from 15th Paush 2079 and the operation of such mobile sets will also be banned. Mobile sets brought for personal purposes can be registered only on the basis of passport/citizenship/national identity card along with the notification letter at mdms.nta.gov.np. are requested to do.
When purchasing a mobile within Nepal, the mobile set can be registered in the Nepal Telecommunication Authority's MDMS system (mdms.nta.gov.np) and can be purchased only by purchasing according to it. It is also informed by this notification that only mobile phones registered with the authority will be sold and distributed after taking the prior approval of the authority.
